South Alabama Earns Vic Bubas Cup For Second Straight Year

by USA Athletic Media Relations

The University of South Alabama earned the Sun Belt Conference's Vic Bubas Cup for its performance during the 2015-16 academic year, winning the league's all-sports prize in consecutive years for the first time since the 1998-99 and '99-00 campaigns. The trophy was presented to school administrators as the conference's spring meetings began Sunday at the Grand Hotel.

The Jaguars lay claim to four Sun Belt titles — women's cross country, soccer and women's outdoor track and field were outright champions, with the baseball program earning a share of the championship on Saturday — and were bolstered in the final standings by having 15 of 17 teams finish among the top half of the conference rankings.
