South Alabama defensive effort wasted in 2OT loss to Idaho

For nearly 59 minutes on Saturday, South Alabama looked to be headed for one of the signature defensive performances of its short football history.

The Jaguars had held a future NFL quarterback without a touchdown pass and led by seven with 1:30 left in regulation, before a 61-yard drive for the game-tying touchdown with 13 seconds to play. South Alabama (1-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) then gave up a field goal and a touchdown in overtime to fall 29-23 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

"It's going to eat me up a lot," South Alabama safety Jeremy Reaves said. "I'm going to watch a lot of film and analyze the game.
