South Alabama begins its 2017-18 basketball season on Friday night with a road trip to Texas Tech, the first step on a journey into the unknown.
The Jaguars return just one of their top six scorers from a year ago, when they went 14-18 overall and 7-11 in the Sun Belt Conference. Head coach Matthew Graves has yet to lead USA into either the NCAA tournament or the NIT in four seasons and is heading into the final year of his contract.
"We're still trying to define roles," Graves said. "We're still working through lineups and rotations and getting comfortable playing with each other.
