South Alabama set a school record for runs scored in a 32-0 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night, part of a season-opening doubleheader sweep at Stanky Field.
The Jaguars won 8-2 in the opener, which was postponed due to rain on Friday night. USA (2-0) goes for the sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday.
In the 32-0 victory, senior right fielder Eddie Paparella tied a school record with 9 RBIs as part of a 5-for-6 night. Paparella -- making just his third career start for the Jaguars -- had a two-run single in the first inning, an RBI single in the second, a grand slam in the fifth, an RBI single in the sixth and a two-run triple in the seventh.
