The 2018 Sun Belt Conference baseball season is not quite at the one-third mark, but arguably the two best teams in the league square off this weekend.
Preseason favorite South Alabama (16-11, 6-2 Sun Belt) travels to face current frontrunner Coastal Carolina (21-10, 8-1) for three games at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. The Jaguars began the season with four games in a tournament hosted by CCU, two of those on the Chanticleers' home field, going 3-1 (the two teams did not face each other).
"We're excited for the challenge this weekend," South Alabama third baseman Brendan Donovan said.
