Shades Valley quarterback Desmond Trotter has verbally committed to South Alabama, he confirmed via text message to AL.com on Sunday.
Trotter -- who also has offers from Jacksonville State and Samford among other schools -- was one of two in-state players to commit to the Jaguars after taking an official visit to Mobile this weekend. Muscle Shoals running back Carlos Davis also pledged to the Jaguars on Sunday.
Trotter is South Alabama's first quarterback commitment for the Class of 2018, and thus fills a key need. The Jaguars return three senior quarterbacks next season, plus rising redshirt freshman Cephus Johnson.
