Mason Rudolph and No. 11 Oklahoma State showed why they are a preseason darkhorse candidate for the College Football Playoff, dominating South Alabama on a Friday night at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Rudolph threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another in less than three quarters of work as the Cowboys won 44-7. South Alabama falls to 0-2 for the first time in program history.
South Alabama lost quarterback Cole Garvin to an ankle injury on its first possession, and could never must much offensively. The Jaguars missed a short field goal in the second quarter, but otherwise did not threaten to score until the Oklahoma State starters were out of the game.
