South Alabama fell to 1-4 after losing 34-16 on the road to Louisiana Tech Saturday night.
The Jaguars put together 333 total yards on offense, but were held to just 99 yards rushing by a Bulldogs defense that forced South Alabama to settle for three field goals when they needed touchdowns.
Louisiana Tech (3-2) finished with 479 total yards in a game highlighted by a 317 yard- and three-touchdown performance from quarterback J'Mar Smith.
South Alabama quarterback Cole Garvin played for the first time since spraining his ankle three weeks ago; he finished 21-of-45 with 235 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
