South Alabama came up empty in a key Sun Belt Conference road game Thursday night, falling 21-13 to Georgia State in Atlanta.

Conner Manning passed for 195 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers, who improve to 4-3 overall, 3-1 in the Sun Belt. South Alabama (3-5, 2-2) could muster only a pair of Gavin Patterson field goals until the final minutes, when Dallas Davis hit Jamarius Way on a 75-yard touchdown to cut the Georgia State lead to eight points.

South Alabama lost despite outgaining Georgia State 338 yards to 309, but turned the ball over twice and converted just five of 16 third downs.
