South Alabama faded in the second half of a 47-27 loss at Ole Miss on Saturday night in Oxford.
Rebels quarterback Shea Patterson passed for 429 yards and four touchdowns -- including three scores in the third quarter alone. Ole Miss receiver A.J. Brown set a school record with 233 yards receiving, with two touchdowns on eight receptions.
South Alabama (0-1) tied the game 10-10 in the second quarter and was within 13-10 at the half, but Ole Miss scored twice quickly in the third to put the game away. The Rebels (1-0) outscored the Jaguars 34-17 in the second half.
