POWELL LEADS USA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO THIRD WIN AT HOME

MOBILE, Ala. – With a game-best 22 points and nine rebounds, Jaylin Powell led the University of South Alabama women's basketball team to a 63-53 victory over New Orleans on Tuesday at the Mitchell Center.

Dee Haymer also scored in double figures for the Jaguars (3-2) with 10 points, and she also matched Kiana Anderson and Tyrielle Williams with five boards on the night.

For New Orleans (1-4), Tomyree Thompson led the team with 11 points. Thompson, along with Jomyra Mathis, had a game-high three assists in the contest as well.

- South Alabama held New Orleans scoreless for the opening eight minutes of the game, ending the first period with a 14-4 advantage.
