Former World Series MVP David Freese might get another chance to play in the Fall Classic after the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired the third baseman from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a minor-league prospect.
The Dodgers went into Friday's games two games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West race while the Pirates were 14.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
To be eligible for the postseason roster, a player must be on the team by midnight EDT Aug. 31, and the Dodgers beat that deadline.
