Any chance Ole Miss might overlook South Alabama despite being a 24-point favorite in Saturday's season-opener long ago went out the window, for a variety of reasons.
Most notably, the Jaguars beat the Rebels' cross-state rival, Mississippi State, 21-20 in last year's season-opener. Speaking on Wednesday's SEC coaches teleconference, Ole Miss interim coach Matt Luke said his players are "locked in" on their preparation for South Alabama.
"I know they have a lot of respect for South Alabama," Luke said. "Not only did they beat Mississippi State, they beat a really, really good San Diego State team and played in a bowl game.
