NFL Draft 2017: South Alabama's Gerald Everett selected in second round by Los Angeles Rams

Former South Alabama tight end Gerald Everett was selected in the second round (No. 44 overall) of the 2017 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams on Friday.

Everett is the first former Jaguar to be drafted by an NFL team. Fellow tight ends Braedon Bowman and Wes Saxton and defensive back Tyrell Pearson have spent time with NFL teams, but none were drafted.

A native of Lithonia, Ga., Everett transferred to South Alabama in 2015 after a season at UAB. He was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection, he caught 90 passes for 1,292 yards and 12 touchdowns during his career as a Jaguar.
