Tantalizing signs of last-minute negotiations came to naught Tuesday as the Mobile City Council delayed a vote on USA football stadium funding, once again frustrating the hopes of a sea of Jaguar supporters who'd turned out in red.
"There are still some very serious moving parts to this particular item," Council Vice-President Levon Manzie told the crowd as the vote was taken. "We've been in discussion with President Waldrop. It's going to take us at least seven more days to reach consensus on all of the very important parts that not only matter to the students and administration of South Alabama but matter to Maysville, matter to Hillsdale, matter to the supporters of Ladd Stadium.
