NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama cross country runners Carolien Millenaar and Onesmus Kemboi were named the Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Runners of the Weeks as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The selection for the weekly conference honor is the first of both their careers, while Millenaar's marks the 14th by a Jaguar woman and Kemboi's is the 43rd for a male student-athlete at South. The selections also mark the first by a Jaguar on either side since Warno Potgieter's back on Oct. 4, 2017.
Millenaar not only got her individual cross country season off to a solid start capturing the individual title at the Azalea City Classic last Friday, but led by the junior, South Alabama took home the first seven spots and won the team title at the meet scoring 15 points.
