MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama freshman A.J. Caldwell has undergone knee surgery and will be out for the remainder of the 2017-18 men's basketball season, head coach Matthew Graves announces Tuesday.
The freshman from Sarasota, Fla. has appeared in four games this season, but has been out since suffering the injury Dec. 2 at Florida International. He will be applying for a medical redshirt after the conclusion of the current campaign.
"We're disappointed that A.J. isn't going to be playing the rest of this year," Graves said. "He was performing at a good level in the preseason before breaking his nose.
