NEW ORLEANS – An undefeated week in singles has earned University of South Alabama senior Laura Matuskova the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award, the league announced Wednesday.
Matuskova, a native of Bratislava, Slovakia, wins the honor for the first time in her career.
Playing in the top half of the lineup, Matuskova went 2-0 in singles to help the Jags to a 3-1 week. She dropped just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 victory over Diana Monsalve of Jacksonville State at No. 3, then moved up a flight to take on Lucia Solis of Jackson State, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 to clinch USA's victory.
