MOBILE – Athlon Sports released its 2022 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference team on Monday, highlighted by nine South Alabama Jaguars including a pair of defensive backs named as first team selections.
Cornerback Darrell Luter, Jr. was selected for the First Team after a year in which he earned All-America honors by a trio of publications and All-Sun Belt Conference honors. In addition to posting 21 tackles, he paced the Jaguars with four interceptions and 10 others passes defended while leading the conference in passes defended per game. He was also second in the Sun Belt in interceptions per game, while ending the season ranked third in the country in passes defended and seventh in interceptions per game.
