LITTLE ROCK SCORES LATE TO DOWN SOCCER

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock scored in the 87th minute to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the University of South Alabama soccer team 2-1 Sunday at the Coleman Sports Complex.

The Trojans improve to 8-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars have their two-match win streak snapped and fall to 5-8 and 3-3.

GAME FACTS
- Little Rock wasted little time in going on top thanks to a goal from Doro Greulich in the seventh minute
- USA's first four shots on goal were taken by freshman Brenna McPartlan
- Freshman Morgan Cross knotted the score at 1-1 right before halftime, tapping in a rebound from McPartlan at 43:27
- Six of the last seven shots of the first half were by South Alabama
- Greulich almost gave the Trojans an early lead after halftime but hit the crossbar
- USA sophomore Ana Helmert forced LR goalkeeper Sara Johannsdottir to make saves three minutes apart at 71:18 and 74:09
- Arola Aparacio Gili scored the game winner after taking a loss pass from Morgan Smocovich and rounding the USA keeper
- Shots were tied at 15 apiece, with the Jags holding a narrow edge in shots on goal at 8-7
- South Alabama junior Justice Stanford made five saves; Johansdottir had seven

- Little Rock is coached by former South Alabama assistant Mark Foster
- The Trojans ended a nine-game losing streak to the Jaguars
- USA allowed multiple goals to a league opponent for the first time this season
