NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama shortstop Drew LaBounty and outfielder Travis Swaggerty were named preseason all-Sun Belt Conference, as announced by the league office Thursday.
LaBounty earned first-team all-SBC honors last season after leading the conference and finishing sixth nationally in walks (59). He finished ranked second in the league in on-base percentage (.444), sacrifice flies (7) and total plate appearances (286), fourth in stolen bases (14), seventh in runs scored (47) and tied for eighth in RBI (43). LaBounty also ranked in the top 10 nationally in walks per game (0.94), and his 59 walks ranked tied for fourth on the Jaguar single-season list.
