MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama men's basketball player Kayo Goncalves was named first-team academic all-district by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
The graduate transfer forward from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was recognized after ranking among the national leaders in multiple three-point field-goal statistical categories his first season with the Jaguars.
He ended the 2020-21 campaign averaging 9.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per outing, hitting 81-of-212 attempts from beyond the three-point arc to finish third in the Sun Belt Conference in three-pointers per game and fifth in three-point field-goal percentage; in addition to concluding the season 15th in the country in total threes made, Goncalves was among the top 25 in three-point field goals per contest as well.
