FUJIOKA PACES WOMEN’S TENNIS ON DAY ONE OF SAMFORD ROUND ROBIN

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of South Alabama women's tennis sophomore Yu Fujioka picked up a win in singles and doubles on the first day of the Samford Fall Round Robin Friday.

The Jaguars faced the hosts in doubles and UAB in singles.

DOUBLES
-Fujioka teamed with sophomore Milka Pasanen for a 6-2 victory over Holly Horsfall and Elsa Pool
-Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest downed sophomore Nikola Kohoutova and junior Leslie Soto

SINGLES
-Fujioka got past Alex Shchipakina 6-1, 7-5
-The Blazers dropped just seven games total on courts 2 and 3 when Marlene Herrman defeated Kohoutova 6-2, 6-3, and Sophie Dodds topped Soto 6-2, 6-0
-Megan Bertrands rallied after a first-set loss to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Pasanen
