Depth at cornerback has been a concern for South Alabama this season. Jalen Thompson, who led the Jaguars with four interceptions in 2016, was ruled academically ineligible. Bobby Flott is injured. The depth chart is getting a workout.
On Saturday, the Jaguars turned to freshman Gus Nave, who made his first career start against Alabama A&M and made sure everyone at Ladd-Peebles Stadium knew who he is.
Nave, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder from Scooba, Miss., had all of four tackles and one pass break-up in the Jags' first two games.
