NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in as many weeks, a University of South Alabama student-athlete has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Autavia Fluker received the honor after breaking the USA school record and earning a first-place finish in the women's shot put with a score of 15.05m (49-04.50) at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
Fluker's 15.05m score shattered the previous school record of 14.94m (49-00.25) set by Latifah Johnson in 2013. The effort was the best showing in the Sun Belt Conference over the weekend and placed Fluker second in this season's league standings.
