Cole Garvin will start at quarterback for South Alabama on Saturday vs. Arkansas State, Jaguars coach Joey Jones said in a radio interview Friday morning.
Speaking to Mark Heim and Lee Shirvanian on "The Opening Kickoff" on WNSP 105.5 FM, Jones said Garvin beat out fellow junior Dallas Davis during the week of practice. Davis started last week's 19-14 loss against Louisiana-Lafayette, but was replaced in the second quarter by Garvin.
"We're going to start Cole Garvin, and we'll go from there," Jones said. "Right now, he's the starter. He had a good week of practice.
