Cleanup begins at site of South Alabama practice facility collapse

Nearly two months after South Alabama's under-construction football practice facility collapsed, cleanup has begun on the construction site.

Heavy equipment was spotted working on the site Tuesday afternoon, and again on Wednesday. A South Alabama spokesman confirmed to AL.com that no work or cleanup had been done on the site prior to this week since the structure collapsed at approximately 2:15 p.m. on July 22, with police guarding the site against trespassers at all hours of the day.

South Alabama officials have declined to comment on the collapse of the facility, which had been named the Jaguar Training Center and had been expected to be completed for use at some point this fall.
