As expected, South Alabama did not earn a spot in the NCAA baseball regional field of 64, which was announced Monday.
The Jaguars end a once-promising season at 32-25 after losing to eventual champion Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Conference tournament semifinals. USA finished 18-11 in Sun Belt Conference play and achieved a top 15 national ranking early in the year, but struggled down the stretch in non-conference play and ended with an RPI of 49.
South Alabama reached the NCAA regionals in both 2016 and 2017, the latter after winning the Sun Belt tournament. USA was last left out of the field in 2015, when the Jaguars lost in the Sun Belt tournament championship game.
