Andres Fox's decision to sign with Stanford over in-state powers no surprise in changing recruiting world

Ronnie Cottrell knows first hand how much recruiting has changed over the years.

He spent years on the successful staffs of both Florida State and Alabama.

Now, as the head coach at Mobile Christian, he’s helped three student-athletes in two years sign Division I letters-of-intent.

“Recruiting has changed because of the internet and technology,” Cottrell said. “When I started recruiting in the 1980s, it was pretty regional – almost within each state. Now, every student is a national recruit. I still think there is a loyalty in-state with some kids, but other schools have come in to Alabama and done a great job.
