South Alabama couldn't build off momentum from a huge upset of an SEC opponent in Week 1, falling to Georgia Southern 24-9 at home on Saturday night.
Coming off their opening week 21-20 upset win versus Mississippi State, head coach Joey Jones and company were looking to remedy past woes against their conference foe after Georgia Southern (2-0) won the last two games. Last year, the Eagles thrashed the Jaguars in a 55-17 victory.
When Kane Wommack's "Swarm Defense" took the field for the first drive, it became apparent it would take a heroic effort to plug the Eagles triple option offense—the offense that put up 605 yards in their week 1 matchup against Savannah State.
