South Alabama recovered from a heartbreaking overtime loss to Louisiana-Monroe a week ago and defeated Presbyterian College 31-7 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturday night.
The Jaguars evened their record to 5-5 and kept their hopes for a bowl bid alive, while Presbyterian, a member of the Big South Conference, fell to 2-9. South Alabama got the additional home game after LSU cancelled its game against the Jaguars in order to accommodate a rescheduled game against Florida.
At first, South Alabama appeared to be in a defensive funk, as it committed three offside penalties—two of them resulting in Blue Hose first downs on the first offensive series of the game.
