Alabama's MLB All-Stars: Only 3 ahead of Craig Kimbrel now

Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel is on the American League’s pitching staff for Major League Baseball’s annual All-Star Game on Tuesday night in Miami.

Kimbrel played at Lee High School in Huntsville and Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

With Kimbrel’s sixth All-Star selection, there are only three players who went into professional baseball from Alabama’s high schools, colleges, sandlots and industrial leagues who have been All-Stars more times – Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Early Wynn.

Aaron appeared in a record 25 All-Star Games, with Mays just one behind. Wynn was selected for nine All-Star Games.
