ALABAMA PULLS AWAY FOR 5-1 WIN OVER SOCCER

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Kat Rogers scored a brace and the Crimson Tide recorded three second-half goals in a 5-1 victory over the University of South Alabama soccer team Thursday night at the Alabama Soccer Complex.

The Crimson Tide win their fourth straight and improve to 4-2-1. The Jaguars drop to 2-4.

GAME FACTS
- The shots were even at 3-3 through the first 18 minutes of the contest before Alabama finally broke through
- UA's Taylor Morgan hit the crossbar with a shot, but Casey Wertz was there for the follow and put the Tide up 1-0 at 18:39
- Less than four minutes later, Emma Welch doubled the Alabama lead; Riley Mattingly crossed to Taylor Hubbard, who laid it off to Welch for the goal
- Freshman Brianna Mascia cut the deficit in half at 31:40; freshman Morgan Cross stole a backpass and fed Mascia just inside the 18-yard box who beat the Alabama goalkeeper to her left
- The Jaguars were down just one at the half despite being outshot 16-4
- Alabama recorded the first six shots of the second half, including Welch's effort that forced USA goalkeeper Justice Stanford to go to the ground at 53:54
- USA freshman Moa Öhman almost knotted the score at 2-2 in the 64th minute when her shot from distance hit the top of the crossbar; Öhman had a second attempt seconds later but it was blocked
- Just over a minute after Öhman's almost equalized, Rogers scored her first at the 65:22 mark after fighting for a loose ball inside the box and beating Stanford into the right corner
- Mattingly played a part in putting Alabama up 4-1, crossing to Gabby Duca who found Rogers all alone at the penalty spot at 76:22
- Alabama's Christina Maartensso rattled the crossbar in the 82nd minute
- South Alabama put the ball on its own net six minutes from time for the fifth and final goal of the contest
- The Crimson Tide outshot the Jaguars 29-9 on the night and put 15 shots on goal
- Stanford tied her career high with 10 saves

- Alabama has won six straight against South Alabama and leads the series 9-1
- USA's last two visits to Tuscaloosa have ended in 5-1 finals
- Tonight was South Alabama's first visit to Tuscaloosa since 2009
