South Alabama needs to win five of its final seven games to earn a second straight bowl berth, and probably at least one more than that to be in the hunt for the Sun Belt Conference championship.
In other words, everything is not lost for the Jaguars despite a 1-4 start to the 2017 season. But USA cannot afford to dig itself into any deeper of a hole, both overall and in conference, where the Jags are 0-1 after a double-overtime loss to Idaho two weeks ago.
