South Alabama will hold its second scrimmage of the fall on Friday morning, and it appears the team's quarterback competition is coming into focus.
Jaguars head coach Joey Jones said Thursday that Dallas Davis and Cole Garvin had moved "a shade" ahead of fellow junior Evan Orth in the three-man battle for the starting job. Jones said he hopes to have a starter named soon after the team's final scrimmage of the fall on Aug. 19.
"Right now, Cole and Dallas are probably neck and neck," Jones said. "Dallas is coming back off the (shoulder) injury; he's looked really good the last two, three days.
