Zelalem, Rubio among 24 called in for U.S. U-23's September friendlies

The Rangers and FC Utrecht players are part of Andy Herzog squad for the last two games before Olympic qualifying kicks off in October.

The United States had an impressive performance at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup and as a result, multiple members of that side have earned a look on the U-23 roster released by coach Andy Herzog on Friday.

Rubio Rubin, Gedion Zelalem, Emerson Hundman, Matt Miazga, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Zack Steffen all started games for the U.S. in its run to the quarterfinals, where the nation was knocked out on penalties by eventual winner Serbia, and all made the 24-man roster for the last pair of friendlies before 2015 Olympic Qualifying gets underway this October.
