From the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo's swankiest upper-class neighbourhoods, tens of millions flocked last Sunday to vote for hardline presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, whose uncompromising, often jarring public views have provoked horror in those opposed to the politician and hero worship among his supporters.
Sunday's first round of voting saw Bolsonaro pick up a whopping 46 per cent of votes, more than 16% clear of nearest rival, Workers' Party (PT) candidate Fernando Haddad.
