FC Barcelona Femeni star Lieke Martens has gotten off to a good start since joining the Catalans, to say the least. She has four goals and four assists in her first 8 matches as Barça have rocketed to first place, tied on points with Atletico Madrid. And, she’s recently been named The Best FIFA Women's Player, in large part due to her performances with the Dutch national team as they won the European Championship and she was named MVP of the tournament. She also won the UEFA Women's Player of the Year Award.
She was unable to accept the award in person as she was with the Dutch national team, but here is her reaction from the locker room:
Martens played last season with Swedish outfit FC Rosengard, who were coincidentally eliminated by Barcelona in the Champions League.
