Want to attend 2026 World Cup games for free? FIFA needs 65,000 volunteers

The pay is nonexistent, but the perk could be viewing games in the U.S., Mexico and Canada for free during FIFA World Cup 26 next summer.

FIFA launched the application process for World Cup 26 volunteers Monday. How many are needed? A staggering 65,000 across the 16 cities that will host the expanded 48-team format over 39 days beginning June 11, the largest volunteer program FIFA has ever attempted.

“Volunteers are the heart, soul and smile of FIFA tournaments,” FIFA president Gianni Infantino said. “They get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime, while supporting a historic event.
