Vieira confident ahead of 'massive challenge' at NYCFC

The newly hired New York City FC coach acknowledges he still has much to learn about MLS.

Patrick Vieira understands he faces a "massive challenge" taking over New York City FC but has faith in his ability to adapt to MLS.

NYCFC announced Monday that Vieira will leave his position in the youth system of parent club Manchester City to take over the MLS side, which fired coach Jason Kreis after a 10-17-7 expansion campaign.

It marks the first head coaching job for the former France star, who also has no experience in North American soccer after a decorated playing career with clubs including Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter and Manchester City.
