U.S. women’s World Cup payout is peanuts compared to men's

The USWNT will receive $2 million for its tournament championship, which in itself, is dwarfed by the $9 million the USMNT earned in 2014.

The U.S. women’s run to a Women’s World Cup title may have captured the intrigue of the country for a month, but hoisting the championship trophy Sunday didn’t do much for the players’ bank accounts.

The U.S. women will receive $2 million for their tournament championship, which in itself is dwarfed by the $9 million the U.S. men’s team was awarded after losing in the round of 16 at last summer's World Cup in Brazil.
