U.S. Under-20s fall to Serbia in World Cup penalty shootout

Despite some shot-saving heroics from goalkeeper Zack Steffen, the U.S. Under-20 national team still fell to Serbia in penalty kicks in the Under-20 World Cup quarterfinals.

With every second chance that came its way, and every missed opportunity by the opposition, the U.S. Under-20 men's national team looked more and more like a team of destiny.

U.S. goalkeeper Zack Steffen made a pair of penalty shootout saves to keep the Americans alive, and put dents into the confidence of Serbian penalty takers, but Steffen's teammates couldn't capitalize on his heroics, missing four penalty kicks on the way to a shootout loss in the Under-20 World Cup quarterfinals.
