UEFA chief Platini meets with French President Hollande

PARIS (AP) -- UEFA President Michel Platini met with French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday amid speculation that he will run for the FIFA presidency when Sepp Blatter follows through with his resignation.

Platini is considered the favorite to replace Blatter, who announced his resignation last week amid a corruption scandal at football's governing body. But an election for FIFA president is scheduled until the end of the year, at least.

Platini, the 59-year-old former France captain and coach, has so far remained silent on his FIFA ambitions.
