The 2025 Leagues Cup kicks off in two weeks which means it’s a perfect time to preview the competition. Some Mexican football fans call this tournament a sham and a detriment to the development of football in the country while others are happy to see their teams fight for another trophy. Either way the competition kicks off July 29th and here’s a breakdown of it.
All 18 Liga MX clubs will participate while only 18 out of 30 teams from the MLS will take part in the competition. Those 18 teams were selected based off of their standings in their Conferences the year prior.
