Steve McClaren is reportedly on the verge of being sacked as Newcastle United manager after the club's board met without the tactician on Monday.
The Daily Mail's northeast correspondent, Craig Hope, said the Magpies' hierarchy held congress without the under-fire manager, fuelling speculation he's set to be handed his marching orders:

Newcastle have lost five of their last six games and are currently 19th in the Premier League standings, prompting rumours they'll make a change in manager in a bid to escape relegation from the top flight.
