Robert Lewandowski’s hopes of winning the Pichichi award for the second time in his career are fading after he failed to find the back of the net for Barcelona against Villarreal on Sunday.
The striker lost further ground to rival Kylian Mbappe who scored against Sevilla to take his tally to the season to 29 from 33 games in the Spanish top flight.
Lewandowski is still on 25 ahead of the final round of fixtures, meaning it looks like Mbappe will take the award in his first season in Spanish football.

Barcelona’s striker has led the standings for most of the season but injury forced him onto the sidelines and allowed Mbappe to catch up and then move ahead.
