Queretaro slip past Chivas 3-2 on penalties to win first ever title

Thanks to an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Tiago Volpi, Queretaro slipped past Chivas 3-2 on penalties to win their first ever title in the Apertura 2016 Copa MX final.

Chivas had done more of the attacking throughout, with Queretaro goalkeeper Tiago Volpi excelling over the 90 minutes.

Into the second half, the hosts went down to 10 men after Andres Renteria received his marching orders for a headbutt on Miguel Ponce.

After a tense final few minutes, the game headed towards penalties where Jair Pereira was the first to miss when his effort was denied by Tiago Volpi.
