Police Inspector-General Mutyambai designates Nyayo Stadium as police station

Police Inspector-General Hillary Mutyambai has designated Nyayo National Stadium as a police station.

In a Gazette Notice published on July 17 and seen by Goal, the Police chief did not reveal the exact reasons for designating the facility as a police station.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 40 (1) of the National Police Service Act, the Inspector-General designates – Nyayo Stadium, situated in Nairobi County, at the co-ordinates 18′ 14.50″S, 36°49′ 27.94″E to be a police station for the purposes of the Act,” the Gazette Notice read.

Nyayo Stadium has been undergoing renovations for close to three years and there were hopes it would be ready for use when the 2020/21 season begins.
