Pichichi race hots up as Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski knocked off top spot after missing El Clasico

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has been knocked off top spot in the race to win this season’s Pichichi award after missing El Clasico.

The striker was fit for the game but didn’t feature at Montjuic as Barcelona ran out 4-3 winners against Real Madrid.

Sunday’s match saw Kylian Mbappe hit a hat-trick which means he is now the top scorer in La Liga with 27 goals from 31 games.

Lewandowski is just two behind on 25 but faces a real battle to overhaul the France star in the final weeks of the season and win the Pichichi award for the second time.
