Monterrey and Pachuca have concluded the FIFA Club World Cup group stage but only Monterrey managed to make it to the Round of 16. Pachuca must now go home and reflect upon their journey that most expected more from while Rayados will prepare to face Dortmund for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Pachuca suffered a loss before the Club World Cup when former head coach Guillermo Almada turned in his resignation three weeks before the competition. At first the club did not accept his resignation, and they said as much with a statement but eventually they accepted Almada’s decision.
